李可染畫院2012年8月19日在北京舉行成立大會并揭牌。畫院是經(jīng)文化部管理部門及國家事業(yè)單位管理局登記備案的國家級畫院,是一個中國畫創(chuàng)作與研究的學術團體,研究李可染先生學術體系藝術思想傳承中國畫藝術,開展李可染書畫研究開展學術活動組織美術展覽及相關培訓,加強中外文化藝術交流,畫院吸納了眾多優(yōu)秀的藝術家與理論學者加入以研究和發(fā)展中國畫藝術為己任,弘揚民族文化為目的,發(fā)揚李可染先生“苦學派”精神,建立“中國派”畫院.李可染畫院內設:李可染紀念博物館,李可染畫院美術館,李可染藝術研究中心,學術報告廳,教學研究工作室,名師講堂,圖書館,典藏部,展覽部為學員提供完善的學習條件和一流的學習環(huán)境。
李可染是20世紀中國山水畫的一代宗師，其藝術精神與學術成就是一筆巨大的藝術遺產(chǎn)，對推動當代中國畫藝術的創(chuàng)新與發(fā)展將起到重要作用。2012年適逢李可染誕辰105周年，由李可染先生夫人鄒佩珠發(fā)起、李可染藝術基金會倡議成立了李可染畫院，其宗旨是研究李可染學術體系、藝術思想，傳承中國畫藝術，并通過開展各種學術活動和對外交流，推動當代美術事業(yè)蓬勃發(fā)展。鄒佩珠任李可染畫院理事會理事長兼畫院院長，執(zhí)行院長李庚。
